We think cheaper drug design will allow scientists to investigate far more potential medicines, including ideas that previously cost too much to pursue. Those designs still need to be made and tested. Better predictions can eliminate wasted experiments within a project while making more projects worth attempting.
Our latest report explores computer-aided design, or CAD, applied to biology: using software to design and compare molecules before making them, then using laboratory results to improve the next attempt. The investment question is which companies earn from that additional work, and which have to pay for it.
We’ve built a research basket of TEM, ABCL, CERT, SDGR, RXRX and ABSI, equally weighted. It combines companies selling research software and patient data with developers pursuing their own medicines.
Download the full report below. We explain why each company belongs, examine the evidence so far, and address the clinical failures and financing costs that could undermine the investment even as the technology improves.
